SHIROFES. (Shirofes) is one of the world’s largest dance and performance festivals, held annually since 2016 at the main keep of Hirosaki Castle in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. The festival features world-class dance battles alongside live music performances by local artists playing Tsugaru shamisen, Tsugaru flute, and more — offering a diverse and rich program for all audiences. In November 2021, SHIROFES. received the Grand Prize at the “Sports Culture Tourism Award 2021” organized jointly by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the Japan Sports Agency, and the Japan Tourism Agency. In March 2022, it was also honored with the Excellence Award at the “26th Hometown Event Grand Prize.”
